The leaves are turning red and the days are getting colder and darker. Fall has officially started! What I love the most about fall and winter are the spices. Cinnamon is one of those spices that smells and tastes good all throughout the colder seasons. Every essential oil blend I put in my diffuser has cinnamon in it these days, so I decided to share some of my recipes for homemade essential oil blends based on cinnamon. You can put them in an oil diffuser, make a perfume, or add coconut oil, sugar and baking soda for a homemade scrub. The possibilities are endless!
Cinnamon and clove
This is the easiest blend to make. Just mix equal amounts of cinnamon and clove and you’re done. If you’re planning on adding them in an oil diffuser, using 5 drops of each should be more than enough. Perfumes usually need more drops for the smell to be noticeable (I use 10 drops of each), but it, of course, depends on how strong you like it.
Buy the essential oils: cinnamon, clove.
Bergamot, lime, rosemary, and cinnamon
Lime and bergamot are the two main ingredients of this blend, so it smells pretty fresh. Which makes it more suitable for perfumes than the previous blend. Mix 6x drops of bergamot, 4x drops of lime, 3x drops of rosemary and 3x drops of cinnamon. Of course, you can also use 12-8-6-6 or 18-12-9-9 drops and so on.
Buy the essential oils: cinnamon, lime, rosemary, bergamot.
Anise, orange, cinnamon, clove, and eucalyptus
Use 6x drops of anise, 5x drops of orange, 3x drops of cinnamon, 2x drops of clove and 2x drop of eucalyptus. I like this blend a lot towards the end of fall, or by the start of winter. It’s so cozy during those cold and dark winter nights! And eucalyptus actually helps fight colds (it opens up the nose and airways), so this blend is extra useful for me since I’m often sick during winter.
Buy the essential oils: anise, orange, cinnamon, clove, eucalyptus.
Geranium, pine needle, cinnamon, and peppermint
The geranium gives this blend a more floral scent, which also makes it great for perfumes. And the peppermint just screams Christmas!
I actually have two variations on this one. One that smells a bit more floral and fresh, and focuses more on the geranium and peppermint. And another one which uses more pine needle and cinnamon, and smells a bit heavier.
For the floral one, I use 10x drops of geranium, 6x drops of peppermint, 4x drops of pine needle and 2x drops of cinnamon. In the other blend, I use 9x drops of geranium, 6x drops of pine needle, 4x drops of cinnamon and 2x drops of peppermint instead.
Buy the essential oils: geranium, pine needle, cinnamon, peppermint.
Pine needle, cedarwood, clove, and cinnamon
I definitely saved my favorite one for last. Whenever I put this blend in my oil diffuser, my apartment smells like a cozy cabin in the middle of a forest. It’s made out of 7x drops of pine needle, 5x drops of cedarwood, 2x drops of clove and 2x drops of cinnamon. Alternatively, you could use a bit less cedarwood and a bit more pine needle, depending on which scents you prefer.
Buy the essential oils: Pine needle, cedarwood, clove, cinnamon.

They’re such a great combo!
Mmmm these scents sound divine! So seasonal.
Cinnamon and cloves might be such a heavenly combination. We never use essential oils. Wish we got them here.
They’re pretty easy and cheap to get online 🙂 And the diffusers can be as cheap or expensive as you wish. Some have a really beautiful design with lights and everything, and those are a bit more pricey, but you can also find some simple, cheap ones that use tea lights instead of electricity.
Love this post. I’m an essential oil crazy lady and have pretty much all of these, it’s so nice to play and find nice, soothing combinations.
I don’t think these oils could be any more perfect for this time of the year. Fabulous for Christmas coming up especially 😀 xxx
